Indian Himalaya
Deodar forest, apple valleys and a road that keeps climbing
The easiest mountains to reach from Delhi, and the ones most often ruined by trying to see three valleys in four days.
Manali and Shimla carry the traffic; the Tirthan, Sangla and Spiti valleys carry the point. The Atal Tunnel has made Lahaul a day trip, which is a mixed blessing. Anything above Rohtang needs a permit and settled weather.
Clear passes in summer, clear air and empty trails after the monsoon.

Pick one valley
Two valleys in a week is a holiday. Four is a car journey.
Check the pass, not the forecast
Rohtang and Kunzum open and close on their own schedule.
Domestic. Inner-line permits apply beyond Rohtang.
