The honest version
Why Kashmir works for couples
Kashmir has been the honeymoon destination in India for three generations, and it earns it. The valley sits at 1,600 metres, ringed by peaks that stay white well into June, with chinar-lined roads connecting Srinagar to meadows at Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg.
The classic trip is five to six nights: two on a houseboat or by Dal Lake in Srinagar, two at Gulmarg for the gondola and the snow line, and one or two at Pahalgam where the Lidder river runs through pine forest.
It is also one of very few places where a genuinely spectacular trip stays affordable. Even with a private car for the full stay, a Kashmir honeymoon usually costs less than four nights in South East Asia.

When to visit Kashmir
April and May bring tulips, blossom and green meadows. September and October give crisp air and chinar leaves turning red. December to February is deep snow — beautiful, but some passes close.

Kashmir, answered
When can we see snow in Kashmir?
Gulmarg holds snow at the top of the gondola from December through to roughly early May. For deep snow across the valley floor, plan for late December to February.
Is Kashmir safe for a honeymoon?
The tourist circuit of Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg is well established and heavily travelled. We plan around current local advisories and keep a driver with you throughout the trip.
How many nights does Kashmir need?
Five nights is comfortable and six is better. Fewer than four means most of the trip is spent driving between the valleys rather than being in them.
