About Paris
A city best taken slowly, where the third day is when it stops being a list of monuments and starts being a place.
Most first trips over-schedule Paris badly. Two museums is a full day. The Marais, Saint-Germain and Montmartre each carry an afternoon on their own. Everything is walkable or two Métro stops, and the queues are the only thing worth planning around.
Worth building a day around
- The Louvre on a late-opening evening rather than a morning
- Sainte-Chapelle when the sun is on the south windows
- A slow morning market on the Rue Mouffetard
