About this trip

The whole point of a weekend trip is that it does not feel like one. That means landing Friday evening rather than Saturday morning, and a hotel forty minutes from the airport rather than ninety.

South Goa does the quiet part well — wide beaches, low-rise resorts and shacks that close early. We keep one morning for the north so you get the food and the old Portuguese houses without giving up the calm.

Late checkout is requested on every booking, which turns Sunday from a scramble into a full day.

  • Beachfront resort on a quiet stretch of South Goa sand
  • Private candlelit dinner set up on the beach
  • Heritage walking morning through the Fontainhas quarter in Panjim
  • Sunset backwater cruise through the mangroves
  • Airport transfers both ways and late checkout requested

Day by day

A working outline rather than a fixed schedule. Every day can be moved, and at least one is deliberately left empty.

  1. 1

    Day 1

Land and go straight to the sand

Transfer from Dabolim or Mopa to the resort — around forty-five minutes to South Goa. Check in, and if you have made it before dark, the beach is a two-minute walk.

    • Airport transfer
    • Beachfront check-in

    Stay: South Goa beachfront resort

  2. 2

    Day 2

    Beach, then dinner on it

Nothing before evening. At sunset, a table set on the sand a little way from the resort — lanterns, a set menu and the shacks already closing behind you.

    • Private beach dinner for two

Meals: breakfast, dinnerStay: South Goa beachfront resort

  3. 3

    Day 3

    Panjim and the mangroves

A morning drive up to Panjim for the Fontainhas quarter — narrow lanes, coloured houses, a bakery worth the detour. Back south for a sunset cruise through the mangrove backwaters.

    • Fontainhas heritage walk
    • Sunset mangrove cruise

Meals: breakfastStay: South Goa beachfront resort

  4. 4

    Day 4

    A slow last morning

Late checkout wherever the property allows it, then the transfer back to the airport. Most couples get a final swim in.

    Meals: breakfast

Questions about this trip

North Goa or South Goa?
South for where you sleep, north for one morning or evening out. The reverse means fighting traffic every time you want a quiet beach.
Can we do this in two nights instead of three?
Yes, and it still works — the flight is short enough. We drop the Panjim morning and keep the beach dinner.
Is Goa worth visiting in the monsoon?
For a quiet, green, well-priced trip, genuinely yes. Just expect limited swimming and many beach shacks closed between June and September.

Before you go

Best time to visit Goa

November to February. Dry, warm and comfortable, with the sea at its calmest. October and March are quieter and cheaper with almost the same weather. June to September is monsoon — dramatic, green, and many beach shacks close.
